The Canada Safeway Foundation is committed to supporting initiatives that feed, protect and nurture children and families in Western Canada. In addition, the Foundation champions three company-wide causes: breast cancer research, prostate cancer research and disaster relief in time of crisis.

The Canada Safeway Foundation takes an active role in making the regions we operate in better places to live and work. It takes only one visit to an outdoor camp, an after-school program, or a community kitchen to realize the immense level of compassion in our communities. Each day we are inspired by the amazing spirit of the dedicated staff and volunteers, the strength and perseverance of those benefiting from our support and the commitment to make a difference.

2005 was a ground breaking year for the Foundation, filled with much growth and a new forward vision. The Board of Directors worked toward streamlining our current funding process while keeping in mind the "Ingredients for Life" branding Safeway Inc. has recently undergone. Recognizing that health and nutrition is a priority for families in Canada, we focused our energies on creating a signature initiative to support. In the summer of 2005 the Foundation launched Safeway Sends Kids to Camp. Together with organizations across Western Canada, the Foundation will provide camp opportunities for thousands of children.
