Safeway Sends Kids to CampSafeway Sends Kids to Camp
The Canada Safeway Foundation aims to be a catalyst in promoting the importance of nutrition and physical activity - instilling in children from Thunder Bay to Victoria the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

Today children have more sedentary activities incorporated into their daily routine - the world wide web, text messaging and video games to name a few. Across Western Canada there are essential programs for children, introducing (or in some cases reintroducing) them to the benefits of physical activity and the great outdoors. Our support of camps in Western Canada will send kids to camp, support capital improvements, and incorporate nutrition education into programming and meal times. Campers will walk away from their experience with a renewed appreciation of sitting down with their family during a meal, the importance of having a balanced diet and a true enjoyment for physical activity.

Camp Potlatch (Howe Sound, British Columbia) - Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Vancouver
Since 1944, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Vancouver has provided meaningful camp experiences to children through their Camp Potlatch facility. Set in 133 acres of pristine wilderness, Camp Potlatch is a beautiful rustic facility that is steeped in tradition. Each summer over 1,000 children travel via boat to experience the great outdoors. Campers ranging in age from 7 to 17 years old participate in a variety of activities such as swimming, rock climbing, hiking, kayaking and canoeing. Through the guidance of supportive mentors, children leave behind the daily challenges they may face - and wake up each morning excited about a brand new day. Simply stated, it's the "Potlatch Way". Camp Potlatch prides itself in being one of the few camps to have a fully negotiable fee structure. All campers have 40% of their camp fees subsidized and fees are negotiated on an individual bases to ensure that children are not turned away due to their inability to pay. Camp Adventure (Kananaskis, Alberta) - Boys & Girls Clubs of CalgaryCamp Adventure
In operation for almost 50 years, Camp Adventure has provided thousands of less fortunate children and youth the opportunity to experience the joys of summer camp. Its 64-acre setting responds to a child's sense of adventure and curiosity, offering first-hand living and learning experiences in the wilderness. From living in a tipi, to mountain biking, canoeing, hiking and backpacking, Camp Adventure offers many children a once in a lifetime experience - an opportunity to learn about themselves and their natural environment. In addition to their summer camp programming, Camp Adventure also provides children and their parents a chance to experience the outdoors together. For many less fortunate families, a weekend at Camp constitutes a time to reconnect. Each year over 800 children and families travel to the Rocky Mountains and experience the magic of Camp Adventure.
